Vice President of the University for Community Service, Environmental Affairs and Student Activities

Prof. Dr. Shereen M. Samir Abdel-Hamid is a distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering with more than 25 years of extensive experience in academia, scientific research, engineering education, and administrative leadership. She currently serves as Vice President for Community Service and Student Activities at Innovation University (IU). She has also held the position of Vice-Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development at the Egyptian Academy for Engineering and Advanced Technology (EAE&AT), in addition to serving as Vice-Dean for Education and Student Affairs (2022–2024) and Head of the Chemical Engineering Department since 2019.


She holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Alexandria University (2007), a Master’s degree from Cairo University, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Cairo University, where she ranked third in her class. She was promoted to the rank of Professor in 2020 by the Supreme Council of Universities, Egypt, following her promotion to Associate Professor in 2015.


Her distinguished academic career includes teaching and leadership positions in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. She served as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia (2012–2017), where she also served as Coordinator of the Preparatory Year Program and Head of the Examinations Committee. She also served as a Professor at the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering at The British University in Egypt, contributing to engineering education and scientific research in the fields of energy and environmental sustainability.


As an accomplished researcher, Prof. Dr. Shereen M. Samir Abdel-Hamid specializes in nanocomposites, biodegradable materials, environmental sustainability, and advanced engineering materials. She has published more than 50 scientific research papers in international peer-reviewed journals, including high-impact publications. She has also served as a guest editor for Polymers Journal and is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Industry & Sustainable Development (IJISD).


She has an extensive record of postgraduate supervision, having supervised more than 25 Master’s and Ph.D. theses at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University and Minia University. She has also served as a reviewer for numerous postgraduate theses and as an external reviewer for engineering programs, in addition to contributing to quality assurance, accreditation, and curriculum development.


Throughout her academic career, she has received several prestigious awards, including the Distinguished Teaching Award (2019) from EAE&AT and the Best Academic Staff Award (2016) from King Abdulaziz University.
Her professional contributions extend beyond academia through her participation in national academic and engineering committees, including the Engineering Sector Committee, the Board of Directors of EAE&AT, and various academic, quality assurance, and accreditation committees.


With a strong commitment to engineering education, scientific research, innovation, community service, and sustainable development, Prof. Dr. Shereen M. Samir Abdel-Hamid continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of higher education and the development of future generations of engineers and researchers.
